A message arrived in the Booking.com chat from our hotel: "Your card was declined, click this link to verify". The link asked for full card details. The hotel's account had been hacked — this is a known scam wave. Never pay through chat links.

Two "plainclothes police" near Old Town Square asked to see our passports and then demanded to "check for counterfeit euros". They took €200 from my wallet "to verify". Report to real police, but never hand over cash.

Two girls on Wenceslas Square invited us to "a pub, no cover". Inside it was a strip club, two beers arrived, and the bill was €800 with a bouncer holding my friend's passport "for the bar tab". This exact scam is reported weekly in Prague.

A "human statue" near the Astronomical Clock posed with my son for one photo and then tapped a sign: 500 CZK per person in the photo. When I refused he started shouting. The police moved him on. Agree on a price before any photo.
